I liked that we got to see some of the Sun Villager's life. Repairing the houses and that. Pets! It's not much, but it's nice to have.

About Leetah's reaction to recognition, I find myself more drawn to the "I don't want others to make my decisions for me, even if those others are our venerated ancestors/mythic forces" bit, never considered a connection with her people's attitude towards danger.

Choices... What choices do we have here? Leetah "giving in", Rayek leaving, and Dewshine joining the hunt - did I miss anything? *heh* Anyway, it's been too long since I read the story for the first time.

What I really liked in this issue was Savah's humour when Cutter, er, asked her for help with the zwoot they caught, and when dealing with the critter itself. Also Dart answering that he'd like to join his parents because they'll be having fun when asked if he doesn't worry.
Fun is a good thing to have.

Rayek leaving - when I read it for the first time as a girl I perceived this as an over the top reaction. Today, I can understand why he would rather leave than stay.
