It seems that he's - grown up, somehow. He's still himself - eager to learn and to acquire new and more powers, still very proud - but he has realised that the universe he thought himself the center of is far bigger than he had imagined before.
The story of his journey was the most interesting thing to me in this issue. Also, it makes me want to read Rayek/Ekuar slash now. The are a good match in my opinion. *g*
